KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — FC Dallas clawed back from an early deficit to secure a 4-2 victory over Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park, snapping a two-match regular season losing streak at the venue. With the win, Dallas improves to 5-6-6 on the year (21 points), while Sporting drops to 4-10-4 (16 points).
Midfielder and captain Luciano Acosta was the difference-maker, delivering a two-goal performance—his first multi-goal outing for the club. He converted Dallas’ first penalty kick of the season and added a composed finish late in the match off a setup from homegrown Nolan Norris. “Even after the early goal, we kept believing. This group fights for each other,” Acosta said.
Petar Musa opened the scoring for Dallas in the 28th minute, finishing a chance created by Shaq Moore, who tallied his second assist of the season. Bernard Kamungo later buried a rebound from a Musa shot to score his first goal of 2025 and his first since last October.
Defender Marco Farfan hit a personal milestone, appearing in his 100th regular season MLS match. The veteran played with edge, recording eight tackles, winning three fouls, and clearing danger in key moments.
Two debuts highlighted the night as well. Álvaro, who has spent most of the season with North Texas SC, made his MLS debut, and FC Dallas academy product Joshua Torquato entered late for his first top-tier appearance after earning a short-term call-up.
Saturday’s result gives Dallas a 33-39-14 all-time record against Sporting KC and improves its mark at Children’s Mercy Park to 13-17-9. It also continues a trend of resilience, as Dallas has now earned 16 points from games in which it has trailed.
Up next, FC Dallas returns to Toyota Stadium for a pair of home matches—first against the San Jose Earthquakes on June 25, followed by a clash with San Diego FC on June 28. Both matches kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be available on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
