DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Stars opened the Western Conference Final with a statement, rallying from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 in Game 1 on Wednesday night.
After trailing 3-1 entering the third, Dallas flipped the game with three power-play goals in just over five minutes from Miro Heiskanen, Mikael Granlund, and Matt Duchene. Tyler Seguin added two goals and an assist, while Esa Lindell sealed it with a long empty-netter. Jake Oettinger made 24 saves in the win.
It was a night of redemption for the Stars’ power play, which went scoreless in last year’s series against Edmonton. This time, it fueled a five-goal third period — the first of its kind in a playoff third period for the franchise.
Leon Draisaitl led Edmonton with a goal and two assists. The Oilers, fresh off a week of rest, couldn’t keep up with Dallas’ late surge.
The Stars have now won seven straight home playoff games. Game 2 is Friday night in Dallas.
