FC Dallas Bows Out of U.S. Open Cup After Shootout Loss to Red Bulls

HARRISON, NJ — FC Dallas was eliminated from the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to the New York Red Bulls, following a 2-2 draw in regulation at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

Bernard Kamungo and Luciano Acosta scored for Dallas, each netting their second goal of the tournament. Kamungo struck in the 28th minute, while Acosta added the second following a strong attacking sequence.

Marco Farfan returned to action after a long injury layoff, joining Sebastien Ibeagha and Paxton Pomykal in making their first 2025 Open Cup appearances.

Dallas now holds a 39-24-7 all-time record in the tournament and remains winless at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

Next up, FC Dallas visits the Seattle Sounders on Saturday, May 24 at 2 p.m. CT. The match will stream on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV and the FC Dallas App.
