Late Rally Not Enough as Arlington Falls 33-30

WASHINGTON, DC — The Arlington Renegades (3-5) dropped another close one to the D.C. Defenders (6-2), falling 33-30 Sunday at Audi Field.

Arlington struck first with a Lucas Havrisik field goal after a forced fumble, but D.C. responded with a 57-yard touchdown run by Deon Jackson. Despite falling behind 15-3, the Renegades rallied behind QB Luis Perez, who threw two second-quarter touchdowns to Tyler Vaughns, cutting the deficit to 21-17 at halftime.

D.C. extended the lead with two touchdown passes from Jordan Ta’amu to Cornell Powell, but Arlington stayed close with three Havrisik field goals and a late QB sneak TD from Holton Ahlers. Down three with one final chance, Arlington’s comeback fell short on a last-second interception.

  • Luis Perez: 32/46, 350 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
  • Tyler Vaughns: 2 TD catches (season high)
  • Havrisik: 3-for-3 FG (30, 45, 54 yards)
  • Charlie Thomas III: 7 tackles, 2 PBUs
