ARLINGTON — Wyatt Langford crushed a two-run homer in the sixth to lift the Rangers past the Rockies, 2-1, in Monday’s series opener at Globe Life Field. The rookie’s blast ended Colorado starter Chase Dollander’s no-hit and shutout bid, giving Texas its fifth comeback win of the season.
Tyler Mahle earned his fourth win, allowing just one run over 6.1 innings with five strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 1.47 — second-best in MLB — and has now opened the season with nine straight starts allowing two or fewer runs, the longest such streak to begin a season in club history.
Texas improved to 13-9 at home and has won five of eight after a rough 3-10 stretch. The Rangers also notched their first win in a home series opener since April 15.
Dollander took a tough-luck loss despite recording his first career quality start, striking out seven and allowing just one hit — Langford’s homer.
Colorado fell to 7-34, tying for the worst 41-game start in modern MLB history.
Jacob Webb secured his first save of 2025 after Luke Jackson left in the ninth. Hunter Goodman had two hits for the Rockies, while Evan Carter stole the Rangers’ first base in the first inning this season.
Texas continues its homestand Tuesday with Game 2 against Colorado before a four-game set vs. Houston.
