WASHINGTON, DC — In the 100th match in USL Super League history, Dallas Trinity FC let a golden opportunity slip away, falling 3-2 to last-place DC Power FC on Thursday night.
Dallas looked sharp early, with goals from Sealey Strawn and Allie Thornton putting them up 2-0 by halftime. Strawn’s fourth of the season and Thornton’s league-leading 12th had Trinity in control—but the second half told a different story. DC stormed back with three unanswered goals, handing Dallas just their eighth loss of the season.
The defeat stings for a Trinity side (11-8-7, 40 points) still chasing a playoff berth. They outshot DC 12-10 and held 54% possession but couldn’t close.
“We showed what we’re capable of in the first half,” head coach Pauline MacDonald said. “Now it’s about finishing games.”
