TAMPA, Fla. (May 4, 2025) — Dallas Trinity FC couldn’t capitalize on a dominant night of possession, falling 1-0 to Tampa Bay Sun FC on Sunday at Riverfront Stadium in a key USL Super League matchup.
Despite holding 67% of the ball and generating 15 total shots, Dallas was undone by a 13th-minute goal from Tampa Bay — the lone score of the night.
“We just have to put this game behind us,” said forward Cyera Hintzen. “We all know we’re disappointed with how we played tonight. But that’s not who we are. We’ll reset and be ready Thursday.”
The loss drops Dallas to 11-7-7 (40 points), though the club remains second in the league table. Tampa Bay improves to 10-6-9 (39 points) and tightens the race near the top.
Dallas had the edge in shots (15-11), but trailed slightly in shots on target (4-5). It was the final regular-season meeting between the two sides, with Dallas finishing 1-1-2 against Tampa Bay.
“We’re fortunate to have a quick turnaround,” head coach Pauline MacDonald said. “Sometimes the best way to bounce back is to do it quickly. Now it’s about rest, recovery, and being ready to go again.”
Dallas continues its road trip Thursday in Washington, D.C., where it will face DC Power FC (4-12-7) at Audi Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT, with streaming available on Peacock.
