Aces Roll Past Wings in Preseason Opener at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, IND. — The Dallas Wings opened their 2025 WNBA preseason with a 112-78 loss to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces on Friday night at Purcell Pavilion, the college home of Dallas guard Arike Ogunbowale.

The game featured the professional debut of No. 1 overall draft pick Paige Bueckers, who finished with 10 points in 22 minutes. Fellow rookies JJ Quinerly and Aziaha James also impressed, with Quinerly leading Dallas with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting off the bench. James added 10 points in her first WNBA action.

Maddy Siegrist scored 11 for the Wings, who shot 45.3% from the field but struggled with turnovers and were out-rebounded 40-28.

Jackie Young led the Aces with 28 points, including eight three-pointers, while A’ja Wilson chipped in 19 points and seven rebounds.

Dallas led 25-23 after the first quarter before Las Vegas pulled away, outscoring the Wings 32-11 in the second to take a 19-point halftime lead. All 16 Dallas players saw the floor, with Bueckers and Ogunbowale logging a team-high 22 minutes.

The game marked the Wings’ first under head coach Chris Koclanes and featured the team debuts of DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith, both acquired in free agency.
