Dallas Trinity FC Falls to Fort Lauderdale United FC, 2-1

DAVIE, FLORIDA — Dallas Trinity FC (5-2-5, 20 points) fell to Fort Lauderdale United FC (4-5-2, 14 points) on Sunday night at Beyond Bancard Field, ending a two-match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 loss.

Allie Thornton Strikes Again

Forward Allie Thornton provided a bright spot for Dallas, scoring her fifth goal of the season in the 68th minute. The Arlington native and SMU alum continues to lead the team in scoring and is tied for second in the USL Super League.

Thornton praised her team for their role in her success, saying, “As a striker, it’s your responsibility to put it away, but my team makes it a lot easier for me because they’re dishing me good passes in front of goal.”

Tough Start, Strong Finish

An early defensive mistake put Dallas on the back foot, with Fort Lauderdale taking a first-half lead. Although Dallas equalized through Thornton in the second half and created several scoring opportunities, a late goal from the home side secured the win.

Dallas Trinity FC returns home to Cotton Bowl Stadium for their final two matches of the 2024 Fall season, beginning with a showdown against Tampa Bay Sun FC (4-3-4, 16 points) on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m. CT. Fans can watch live on Peacock and USL on YouTube.
