Expectations For SMU Football In 2024 Are High As They Transition To The ACC

DALLAS, TEXAS — With the Return of Quarterback Preston Stone after a successful 2023 season, where he threw for 28 touchdowns and over 3,000 yards, the offense is set to be a force to reckon with. A deep running back room and a promising wide receiver in Jordan Hudson further bolster the team’s offensive strength.

The Mustangs defense, which was ranked in the top 15 nationally in yards per game allowed last year, is expected to be strong again this year. Defensive coordinator Scott Symons remains with the team, and the unit has added depth through the transfer portal.

While the team is undoubtedly talented, it’s important to note that stepping up to the ACC level will be a significant challenge. Historically, SMU has struggled against Power Four teams, which could be a potential hurdle to overcome in the upcoming season.
