TCU Blows Past Omaha 82-60

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The TCU Horned Frogs took a 82-60 win against the Omaha Mavericks tonight. The Mavericks played heavy defense and offense which lead to TCU only being able to take a 10-point lead.

Head Coach Jamie Dixon says Omaha played really hard and physical overall and defensively he thought they were pretty good. The Horned Frogs had 16 total turn overs, but Dixon says players are wanting to play the first side the entire game and lacked playing other sides of the floor which contributed to the high number in TO’S.  TCU took a higher lead in the second half as Jakobe Coles matched his career high of 21 points, Jakobe says “I’ve been consistent with my work and the shots are going to come so I try not to worry too much.”

Coach Dixon said Cole’s improvement has been an ongoing process throughout the summer and the last two weeks has gotten even stronger and is a better defensive player which they told him he needed to be. Omaha’s Mavericks Frankie Fidler was not far behind in points, leading the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

The Mavericks fell short tonight due to 16 TO’S as well as only a 39.3 field goal percentage. The Mavericks are now 1-1 . Dixon says they are challenged with 10 good players who are all kind of worried about minutes right now. It’s an advantage though that they hope to keep building off of.

TCU is now 2-0 as they continue in the season taking on The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Tuesday the 14th.
