Houston Cougars vs SMU Mustangs Preview

DALLAS, Texas – SMU is down to their final four games this year, and are hosting Houston on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 6:0 PM.

The Mustangs are coming off of a 45-34 on the road victory over Tulsa, but are battling some injuries that Head Coach Rhett Lashlee says has his team pretty beat up.

Quarterback Tanner Mordecai sat out last game against Tulsa due to a head injury he received against Cincinnati. Mordecai was in full gear getting in some reps at practice this week, and should be good to go as the starter against Houston.

Backup quarterback, Preston Stone, suffered what is said to be a broken left collarbone, and will be sitting out the rest of the season.

Running back Camar Wheaton and TJ McDaniel were going through drills at practice this week, but were not in full go. Instead, Tyler Lavine and Brandon Epton were suited up and running through drills at full speed.

Defensive lineman Stephon Wright was not at practice this week.

The Mustangs need to secure this win against Houston if they want a realistic shot at being in contention of making a bowl game.
