Arike Ogunbowales 10th 30-Point-Game Helps Wings Secure 94-84 Win

PHOENIX, AZ- The Dallas Wings leave the Valley with a 94-84 win beating The Phoenix Mercury Thursday Night.

Guard Arike Ogunbowale led the team offensively with a spectacular 37-point night. This is Ogunbowale’s tenth thirty-point game of her NBA career. The star guard is also the only player in the WNBA whos currently scored over 500 points in her last three seasons.

Marina Mabrey and Allisha Gray assisted The Wing’s offense in points during the first quarter, which accelerated Dallas to outscore Mercury 26-20. Phoenix sent multiple Dallas players to the line in the where the Wings capitalized with seven extra point throws. Wings led at halftime 44-41.

Dallas started off the second half with enthusiasm on the court, taking shots from all over the court, many of them assisted by Mabrey. Mabrey secured the first double-double of her career finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds, maximizing Kayla Thorton’s 11 rebounds.

“It’s all about just being focused and locked in and putting the team first, and we did that.” Head Coach Vickie Johnson expressed post-game, “I hate to say this, but I think our team is more focused on the road. Were all together, were eating together, and we just have to learn to be focused at home.”

The Wings will return to Dallas where they will host the Minnesota Lynx Saturday, May 21st at 7 P.M. CT
