FORT WORTH, TX – TCU (18-9, 7-8) upset No. 9 Texas Tech (22-7, 11-5) 69-66 in Fort Worth on Saturday night.

The crowd was electric in Fort Worth this evening as TCU took on No. 9 Texas Tech. Both teams came out with a lot of energy, I think the crowd definitely had something to do with that.

The first five eight minutes were back and forth until Tech started to knock down some shots and TCU couldn’t finish some easy buckets under the basket. The Frogs got down by seven with 12 minutes left in the first half forcing Coach Dixon to take a timeout.

TCU came out of the timeout down seven and went on a 10-1 run to give the Frogs the lead by one point going up 21-20.

Turnovers turned the game around – it seems like we have had this conversation before. TCU gave up seven turnovers in the first half giving Texas Tech the lead at the break.

The Red Raiders went into the locker room up 41-33. The eight point lead was due to better shooting and rebounding on Texas Tech. They shot 61 percent from the floor in the first half while TCU shot 46 percent, and they out rebounded TCU 15-11 in the first 20 minutes of play.

Mike Miles led for TCU going into the half with 14 points.

The second half TCU brought the fire and they capitalized on every Texas Tech turnover. Tech had 20 turnovers on the night and The Frogs took advantage.

“We got deflections, loose balls, and steals. I’m happy for our players. It’s a great win for us and our resume.” Head Coach Jamie Dixon told us post game.

Mike Miles led the Frogs with 26 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Damion Bough added 10 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

TCU did miss 10 free throws throughout the game and had 13 turnovers on the night but when it came down to the wire TCU had more hustle and drive and got the job done.

The Frogs will be back here in Fort Worth on Tuesday to play No. 5 Kansas, tip off is set for 7:00 PM in Schollmaier Arena.
