FRISCO, TEXAS — As FC Dallas prepares for their upcoming season starting April 17th, they are now in the mist of their six week long preseason. Head coach Luchi Gonzalez stated he “is very excited to be getting started.” As the ongoing pandemic has made it difficult for any sports to work out future and potential seasons, FC Dallas are simply just happy they are getting not only a full preseason but also a full scheduled soccer season.
D210SPORTS spoke with FC Dallas Head coach Luchi Gonzalez on what his short term and long term goals are for the upcoming season. He stated, “ first off, in these six weeks of preseason, we will have welcome moments with the team, it’s not always about soccer. These guys need chemistry on and off the field, so we do team bonding activities, so that these athletes really know who they’re playing with. Also we have to remember that even though we have a season, the logistics are still going to be different this year and as a team we have to work together and know how to conquer that.”
Gonzalez also commented about the long term goal for the team and how excited he is just to be back on the field with his team, ”we learned a lot in the last year, how to handle and cope with Covid and the Covid-19 guidelines to keep us safe, but to receive an actual preseason and full scheduled season means the world us.. We can improve as a team with times, reps, progressions in person now. We also hopefully will be able to see the fans too. I miss the fans, I miss their interaction and we hope they will be able to be in the stands safely this year. We just can’t wait to be on the field again. I can do zooms, I can be virtual but nothing compares to being on that field.” Gonzalez also let it be known, “the long term goal is to win the MLS Cup. That’s what we’re here for and that’s what we will have our focus on all season. I believe in these guys and we are going to achieve some great things in the upcoming weeks.”
