FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Cowboys and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy have reportedly agreed to a three-year deal on Tuesday per ESPN’s Todd Archer.

The six-time Pro Bowl veteran spent nine years of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, followed by a stint with the Carolina Panthers last season. He has recorded 59.5 sacks and 86 tackles for a loss in 139 NFL games played, with at least five sacks every season since 2012. That is a staggering stat from an interior defensive lineman.

The Cowboys struggled against the run in 2019 and with Maliek Collins now joining Rod Marinelli with the Raiders; Dallas needs a solid run stuffer to clog holes in the middle of the line. The team has depth with Trysten Hill, but he did not provide much confidence during his rookie campaign last season. Adding a 10-year veteran like McCoy will help solidify the Cowboys defensive front with his versatile skillset. He is one of the league’s premiere interior d-lineman and is just what the doctor ordered for Dallas.
