Mustangs Announce 2019 Football Schedule

(SMU) – The SMU football program has announced the 2019 schedule, a slate that features eight bowl teams from a season ago and six games at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.The season opens on the road when the Mustangs travel to face Arkansas State on Aug. 31, before returning for games at Ford Stadium against North Texas (Sept. 7) and Texas State (Sept. 14). The non-conference schedule concludes with a trip across the Metroplex to face TCU on Sept. 21 in the Battle for the Iron Skillet.SMU hosts American Athletic Conference West Division opponents Tulsa (Oct. 5) and Tulane (Nov. 30), while the road slate features a Thursday evening match-up at Houston on Oct. 24, and Saturday contests at Memphis (Nov. 2) and Navy (Nov. 23). East Division games include Temple (Oct. 19) and ECU (Nov. 9) at home and USF (Sept. 28) on the road.SMU is coming off its first year under Head Coach Sonny Dykes. James Proche earned first-team All-AAC accolades after leading the Mustangs with 93 catches for 1,119 yards and 12 touchdowns, while Richard Moore was an honorable mention selection with a team-leading 92 tackles and five sacks, while adding 13.5 tackles-for-loss.Kickoff times and more TV information will be announced at a later date.
