SMU Comes Up Short Against Memphis

DALLAS, Texas — The 6-4 Memphis Tigers defeated the 5-5 SMU Mustangs 28-18 in American Athletic Conference play Friday night at Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

SMU’s Junior Quarterback Ben Hicks completed 29 passes in 55 attempts for 344 yards and two touchdowns and one interceptions. Hicks two touchdown tosses were to wideout James Proche. who finished the game with 12 catches for 134 yards.

Memphis running back Patrick Taylor Jr., rushed for 111 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Tigers win.

Bowl-eligible Memphis (7-4, 4-3 American Athletic Conference) now holds an 8-3 advantage in its series with the Mustangs (5-6, 4-3) and has won five straight against SMU since 2014.

The Mustangs hit the road next week to take on Tulsa.
