Loyola Chicago Knocks Off No. 6-seed Miami

DALLAS, TEXAS — No. 11-seed Loyola Chicago knocked off No. 6-seed Miami with a dramatic, buzzer-beating three-pointer to secure a 64-62 win in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Senior Guard Donte Ingram hit a 3 pointer with three-tenths of a second to play to seal the Hurricanes fate.

“Tennessee is a very talented and physical team. That’s how they won the SEC and that’s why they have so
much success, but we knew if we could match their physicality and keep them off of the offensive boards
they average about 14 a game against a SEC team so we wanted to cut that in half. We knew it would be a
dogfight but we were up for it,” said Ingram.

The win over No. 13 Tennessee, coupled with Thursday’s victory over No. 22 Miami (Fla.), gave Loyola back to back wins over AP Top 25 teams for the first time since knocking off No. 4 Illinois and No. 20 Louisville in
December1984.
