SMU Blows Pass ECU 86-61

DALLAS, TEXAS – SMU defeated East Carolina 86-61 on Sunday afternoon in Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs are now 13-1 at home this season and 15-7 overall. Jahmal McMurray and Jimmy Whitt were tied for the leading scorers in the game with 20 points each. It was a career high for Whitt. He also had 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.

This was McMurray’s third game to start in the place for Jarrey Foster who recently had a season ending knee injury. McMurray finished with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal to go along with his 20 points. The three other SMU starters also scored in double figures.

Ethan Chargois had 16, Ben Emelogu had 13 and Shake Milton had 11. 80 out of SMU’s 86 points came from the starters, all while shooting a combined 67% from the field. All the SMU coaches matched on the sidelines today with green ties and tennis shoes.

The Mustangs wore the ties to support Coaching for Literacy and had on their ‘suits and sneakers’ for Coaches vs Cancer. SMU now has a few days off before they face Tulsa on Thursday night in Tulsa.
