SKYLAR DIGGINS-SMITH NAMED ASSOCIATED PRESS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Arlington, TX – Skylar Diggins-Smith was named Associated Press Player of the Week, for her outstanding performance last week (June 20-June 25), helping the Wings get back to .500 with a 3-0 record.

“It’s an honor,” said Diggins-Smith. “Having some success as of late, winning four straight with the team, all the credit goes to them. I’ve been happy with our progress, and it seems we are coming into our own. That’s who I represent. I represent the Dallas Wings. There’s nothing individual in this league. It’s all team associated, so I wouldn’t have this without my teammates and coaching staff. The goal is to keep working hard, stay humble and stay hungry.”

The 5-9 guard averaged 20.3 points and 6.7 assists for the Wings, which beat San Antonio twice and snapped Connecticut’s five-game winning streak. She had a season-best 30 points and a franchise-record seven 3-pointers in the win at San Antonio on June 23.

Other players receiving votes included Sylvia Fowles, Brittney Griner and Maya Moore.

Diggins-Smith and the Wings will be back in action, as they host the Seattle Storm on July 1 at College Park Center. Tickets are still available for purchase. Fans can call 817.469.9464 or visit dallaswings.com.
