Stars Sweep Jets Season Series Behind Oettinger’s Shutout

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars put an emphatic stamp on their season dominance over Winnipeg on Thursday night, finishing off a perfect four-game sweep of the Jets with a disciplined, complete performance.

Goaltender Jake Oettinger turned aside 23 shots to earn his 15th career shutout, moving him into sole possession of fifth place on the franchise’s all-time list. The performance also continues to elevate his standing among active American netminders, where his shutout total ranks among the league’s best. Advanced metrics underscored his impact, as he prevented just over two goals above expected, according to MoneyPuck.

Dallas found contributions throughout the lineup. Adam Erne delivered his most productive outing with the club, recording a goal and an assist while setting the tone physically with a team-high five hits. Miro Heiskanen continued his steady offensive pace, picking up an assist to extend a point-per-game stretch that now spans more than two months.

Rookie Arttu Hyry also made his mark, posting the first multi-point effort of his career. His goal carried added significance, marking his first at American Airlines Center.

At even strength, Dallas controlled play when Mavrik Bourque was on the ice, outshooting Winnipeg 10-1 in five-on-five situations, a reflection of the team’s sustained pressure and puck possession.

For Oettinger, the shutout was less about personal milestones and more about execution across the ice.

“The win is the main thing,” he said. “Shutouts are tough to get — you need some breaks and a strong effort in front of you. I had both tonight.”

He pointed to consistency and special teams as key factors, noting the penalty kill limited Winnipeg’s chances and allowed the Stars to maintain control.

“I thought we stayed with it for longer stretches,” Oettinger said. “Our penalty kill was excellent, and defensively we didn’t give them much. That lets everything else fall into place.”

Even as the Jets pushed in the latter stages, Oettinger emphasized the importance of maintaining focus during quieter stretches.

“It’s easy to lose your edge when you’re not seeing a lot of action,” he said. “I’ve been working on staying locked in the whole game, and I felt good about that tonight.”

With the victory, Dallas not only secured two points but reinforced its ability to dictate play against one of its Western Conference rivals — a trend that held firm across all four meetings this season.
