DALLAS — The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled away in dominant fashion Monday night, cruising to a 124-94 victory over the Dallas Mavericks despite being narrowly beaten on the boards.
Dallas showed effort on the glass, outrebounding Minnesota 53-51 and controlling second-chance opportunities with a 14-6 advantage in offensive rebounds — matching one of their better marks this season. But that hustle didn’t translate into points, as the Timberwolves overwhelmed the Mavericks with balanced scoring and efficient execution.
Daniel Gafford continued his recent surge for Dallas, finishing with 21 points on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting night. The big man also chipped in eight rebounds, two assists and a block, while surpassing the 4,000-point mark for his career with a fourth-quarter dunk. Gafford has now topped 20 points in four of his last five outings, a sharp uptick after reaching that mark just once in his first 45 games this season.
Dwight Powell delivered one of the more unusual stat lines of the night. He scored nine points without attempting a single field goal — a rare feat in the shot clock era — while adding eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Brandon Williams contributed across the board with 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists and two steals, marking a career-best all-around performance. Rookie Tyler Smith also made an impact on the glass, grabbing a career-high eight rebounds.
Minnesota, meanwhile, leaned on depth and distribution. Six players scored in double figures, led by a standout performance from Ayo Dosunmu, who recorded the second triple-double of his career with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. Julius Randle added a milestone of his own, collecting his 7,000th career rebound.
Ultimately, the Timberwolves’ offensive rhythm proved too much for Dallas to overcome, turning a competitive start into a one-sided finish as the Mavericks continue searching for consistency down the stretch.
