FORT WORTH, Texas — The No. 1 UConn Huskies faced an early challenge but delivered a dominant finish Friday, defeating the No. 4 North Carolina Tar Heels 63-42 in the Sweet 16.
UConn briefly trailed after the first quarter and held just an eight-point halftime lead in a physical, tightly contested game. But the Huskies found their rhythm after the break, locking in defensively and pulling away with a commanding second half.
The victory sends UConn to its 30th Elite Eight and extends its winning streak to 53 games.
With three wins left, the Huskies remain firmly on track for an undefeated season and back-to-back national titles.
