DALLAS — Dallas Trinity FC endured a tough night at the Cotton Bowl, falling 4-0 to Sporting JAX in a match that never quite found its rhythm for the home side.
Despite the lopsided result, Dallas remains in playoff position, holding fourth place in the Gainbridge Super League standings with the postseason reserved for the top four teams.
Jacksonville capitalized on its opportunities early and maintained control throughout, outpacing Dallas in possession (55.4%) while matching the home side’s 13 shot attempts and finishing with six on target. Dallas managed four shots on frame but was unable to break through.
Goalkeeper Tyler McCamey recorded two saves in the loss, bringing her season total to 22 across seven appearances.
Seventeen players saw the field for Dallas, but cohesion proved elusive against a Jacksonville side that now holds a 2-1 advantage in the season series.
Head coach Nathan Thackeray didn’t mince words following the defeat.
“That wasn’t the team that we are,” Thackeray said. “We knew it would be a tough matchup, but not a 4-0 result at home. This is a new chapter for us.”
Midfielder Heather Stainbrook emphasized the team’s focus on moving forward.
“We wanted this one, no doubt,” Stainbrook said. “But we’ll control what we can, stick to our identity, and push to win as many games as possible down the stretch.”
Dallas has been solid at home this season with a 4-3-3 record, but Monday’s setback marked a significant stumble as the playoff race tightens.
