FORT WORTH, Texas — Olivia Miles delivered a record-setting performance as No. 3 seed TCU Horned Frogs women’s basketball overwhelmed No. 14 seed UC San Diego Tritons women’s basketball 86-40 on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Miles controlled every facet of the game, posting the 12th triple-double of her career while breaking TCU’s single-game assists record. She added to her growing legacy with her 35th straight game scoring in double figures, continuing a streak that has lasted the entire season. Her playmaking also pushed her within 16 assists of the rare 900-career milestone — a mark reached by only a select group in college basketball history.

TCU dictated the tone early and never let up, turning defense into offense and overwhelming UC San Diego with depth and pace. The Horned Frogs’ balanced attack was evident, as five players reached double figures — the sixth time this season they’ve achieved that mark.

The win added to a growing list of milestones for TCU. The Horned Frogs improved to 11-0 in postseason games played inside Schollmaier Arena and moved to 11-4 against teams in this year’s NCAA Tournament field. They also continued their trend of success as the higher seed, now 6-1 in that role.

Under head coach Mark Campbell, TCU has thrived with extra preparation time, improving to 14-1 in games following a break of six days or more. The Frogs also strengthened their dominance at home, putting themselves one win away from consecutive 20-win home seasons — something that would mark the third such run in program history.

Friday’s performance was historic statistically. TCU set program NCAA Tournament records in points (86), field goals (32), 3-pointers (13), rebounds (56), and assists (23). The Frogs also became just the seventh team in NCAA Tournament history — and the first since NC State in 2019 — to have three players record either a triple-double or a double-double-double in the same game.

TCU’s shooting from beyond the arc remained a defining factor. The Horned Frogs extended their winning streak to 30 games when hitting at least 10 three-pointers and are now just 15 made threes away from reaching 1,000 over a three-season span — a feat accomplished by only a handful of programs. They have also recorded at least 20 assists and 10 three-pointers 25 times in the Campbell era.

The Frogs’ dominance showed on both ends of the floor. TCU secured its 42nd consecutive win when scoring 80 or more points and its 70th straight victory when holding an opponent to 50 points or fewer. UC San Diego’s 40 points marked the third-lowest total allowed by TCU this season.

Individually, several Horned Frogs delivered standout performances. Bigby led TCU in scoring for the first time in her career, surpassing the 20-point mark and setting a new program NCAA Tournament scoring record — eclipsing the previous mark held by Hailey Van Lith. She also recorded her 800th career point in the first half.

Suarez continued her consistent play, scoring in double figures for the 14th straight game while notching her 10th double-double of the season, tying Miles for the team lead. Silva added to her strong campaign with her sixth double-double, while Sheffey reached double figures for the second time in three games and is averaging 8.3 points over her last four outings.

Miles also made her presence felt on the glass, pulling down 16 rebounds — one of the top marks ever recorded by a guard of her size in NCAA Tournament play.

Additional milestones rounded out the night, as Bielefeld and Kennedy Basham made their NCAA Tournament debuts. Campbell now sits one win shy of his 125th career victory.

With the win, TCU advances with momentum and confidence, eyeing a potential milestone victory Sunday against the Huskies that would further cement one of the most dominant stretches in program history.
