FRISCO, Texas — Three penalty kicks, a brace for the visitors and a hat trick on the night, for a 3-3 draw between the Hoops and San Diego, thanks to a late equalizing goal from forward Petar Musa.
SDFC gave up two corners within the first six minutes of play, but in the 18th minute, were awarded a penalty kick. After VAR’s decision, defender Shaq Moore’s hand ball inside the box gave SDFC midfielder Onni Valakari a chance to put the club up by one—he buried it bottom left corner past goalkeeper Michael Collodi, who guessed the other way.
In the 30th minute, SDFC’s midfielder David Vazquez was running into the area when Hoops defender Herman Johansson laid him out, inside the box. Forward Marcus Ingvartsen stepped up to the spot, and while Collodi guessed right, he could not get a hand to save it from becoming 2-0, San Diego.
In the 41st minute, forward Petar Musa scored with flare—Kaick slotted a ball in from the left side to Musa, who took a funky touch to evade an SDFC defender and hit it in the air to find the back of the net for FCD to get within a goal of the visitors.
The fans sure had something to cheer for, and then deflate about—Kaick almost scored one before heading into the half, but the offside flag when up and it did not count.
Just six minutes into the second half is all it took for SDFC to score its third: forward Alex Mighten played it into an unmarked Valakari, who deflected it in for a brace to his name on the night.
Minutes later, defender Bernard Kamungo drew a penalty near the edge of the 18-yard box when keeper Pablo Sisniega came out to make a play. Musa banged it in just under the crossbar for his brace—the score now 3-2, still in favor of SDFC.
Defender Nolan Norries had a header in goal with 20 minutes to go, but it would not count due to him being offside—the third goal disallowed this game.
But how about a third goal scored for Musa? Four minutes into stoppage time at the end of the second half, Kamungo dribbled and danced inside the box before Musa hit it one-time into the net to tie things at 3-all to earn FCD a point from this hard-fought match.
Forward Petar Petar Musa is the first player in club history to have two hat tricks, and is the first player in the league with one this season.
FC Dallas will return home next weekend.
