ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers added bullpen depth on Friday, agreeing to a one-year major league contract with left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks.
Beeks, 31, brings experience and versatility to the Rangers’ pitching staff after spending time in both starting and relief roles during his big-league career. In recent seasons, he has primarily worked out of the bullpen, where his ability to handle multiple innings has made him a valuable option.
The left-hander split last season between relief appearances and spot duty, relying on a mix of a mid-90s fastball and a sweeping slider to keep hitters off balance. Throughout his career, Beeks has shown the ability to generate swings and misses while also providing length in relief when needed.
Texas continues to focus on strengthening its pitching depth as the club prepares for the upcoming season. Beeks is expected to compete for a role in the Rangers’ bullpen, potentially giving the team another reliable left-handed option in late-game situations.
Originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox, Beeks has also pitched for Tampa Bay and Colorado during his major league career. Across multiple seasons in the majors, he has logged significant innings in relief while proving capable of stepping into different roles depending on team needs.
With the addition of Beeks, the Rangers continue shaping their pitching staff as they prepare for the start of the regular season.
