FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU shook off early foul trouble and leaned on a dominant second half to pull away from Arizona State for a 90-78 win Tuesday night at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (13-5 at home) tightened up defensively after halftime and controlled the glass, finishing with a 40-34 rebounding edge. Under coach Jamie Dixon, TCU improved to 16-2 this season when winning the rebounding battle — a trend that has consistently translated to success during his tenure in Fort Worth.
TCU also maintained its recent edge in the series, improving to 5-2 all-time against the Sun Devils and extending its winning streak in the matchup to four games. Dixon is now 4-0 against Arizona State.
Despite committing a season-high 23 fouls in a game that stayed in regulation, the Frogs made up for it at the free-throw line. TCU converted 28 of 40 attempts — its second-highest total in both makes and tries this season — repeatedly capitalizing on trips to the stripe to steady momentum.
Micah Robinson delivered the decisive stretch. The junior guard poured in 20 points, tying a career high, with 17 coming after the break. Robinson also grabbed a team-best eight rebounds as TCU remained unbeaten when he leads the team on the boards. He connected on 3 of 5 from beyond the arc and has now hit at least one 3-pointer in seven consecutive games.
Xaiver Edmonds added 17 points in just 17 minutes while navigating foul trouble. He picked up his fourth foul with 14:56 remaining but stayed aggressive, finishing 3 of 4 from 3-point range — a career-best performance from deep. The Frogs are now 11-7 when Edmonds reaches double figures.
Brock Harding orchestrated the offense with 11 assists — the 22nd time this season he has led the team in that category — and added 10 points for his second double-double of the year. Tanner Toolson chipped in 12 points and moved within six of the 1,000-point mark for his career. Liutauras Lelevicius contributed 10 points, marking his second straight double-figure effort.
TCU’s balanced scoring and control of the boards ultimately proved too much down the stretch, as the Horned Frogs created separation midway through the second half and never allowed Arizona State back within striking distance.
