DALLAS — Cooper Flagg has been unstoppable, earning his third consecutive Rookie of the Month honor after a dominant January. In 12 starts, Flagg averaged 20.8 points (.478 FG%, .769 FT%), 7.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.3 steals over 32.6 minutes per game. He scored 20+ points six times, including two 30-point games and a 40-point outing, while posting four double-doubles and four 20-5-5 performances.
Flagg set the Mavericks rookie scoring record with 49 points against Charlotte on Jan. 29, surpassing the previous mark of 42 points shared with Mark Aguirre. He also broke Cliff Robinson’s record (45 points, 1980) for most points by a teenager in NBA history and became the first rookie since Michael Jordan in 1984-85 to record a 49-point, 10-rebound game.
