FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU went toe-to-toe with No. 10 Houston for much of the night but couldn’t close the gap late, falling 79-70 on its home floor.
The Horned Frogs shot better than the Cougars and limited Houston to a season-low six offensive rebounds, but key stops and timely buckets swung the game down the stretch. Houston edged TCU on the glass 31-30, a slim margin that proved costly as the Frogs slipped to 1-5 against AP Top 25 opponents this season.
Xavier Edmonds led TCU with 18 points and 10 rebounds, recording his third straight double-double and matching his career high on the boards. David Punch added 16 points, knocked down his lone 3-point attempt, and paced the Frogs with six assists. Brock Harding chipped in five assists, extending his streak of games with at least five dimes to 10.
TCU finished the night shooting 47.2 percent from the field, outpacing Houston’s 44.4 percent, but couldn’t fully capitalize. The Frogs dropped to 8-5 at home and 26-51 all-time against the Cougars, including 19-15 in Fort Worth.
