Flagg, Mavericks Clamp Down Late, Beat Nets 113-105

DALLAS The Dallas Mavericks leaned on defense, pace, and another headline night from Cooper Flagg to pull away from the Brooklyn Nets for a 113-105 win, completing a season sweep and continuing their recent dominance in the matchup.

Dallas held Brooklyn in check from the perimeter, limiting the Nets to just nine 3-pointers on 37 attempts. The cold shooting night marked one of Brooklyn’s worst long-range performances of the season and helped the Mavericks take control during key stretches. Dallas has now won eight of its last 10 meetings with the Nets.

The Mavericks also turned defense into offense, pushing the tempo for 22 fast-break points — one of their highest totals of the season. The number underscored a growing trend for Dallas, which has already surpassed half of last season’s total games with 20-plus fast-break points.

From deep, the Mavericks were efficient and timely. Dallas knocked down 15 3-pointers at a 44.1% clip, continuing a formula that has translated to success when the outside shot is falling.

Flagg once again set the tone. The teenage standout poured in a team-high 27 points on efficient shooting while filling the stat sheet with five rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a block — all without committing a turnover. It was another milestone performance for Flagg, who continues to climb the NBA record books for teenage production, matching historic company with his blend of scoring and control.

Klay Thompson provided a spark off the bench, drilling six 3-pointers on his way to 18 points. One of those makes pushed Thompson past the 2,800 career mark from beyond the arc, placing him among the top shooters the league has ever seen. His bench shooting continues to separate him from the rest of the league this season.

Naji Marshall delivered one of his most complete performances of the year, finishing with 22 points and nine assists while impacting the game on both ends. Dwight Powell added steady work in the paint in just his second start, pulling down 10 rebounds to go with five points.

Brooklyn stayed competitive behind strong interior work, including a big rebounding first half from Day’Ron Sharpe, but struggled to find consistent offense from the outside. The Nets also showed activity defensively with eight blocks, yet Dallas’ balance and execution proved too much to overcome.

With the win, the Mavericks continue to build momentum, pairing efficient offense with improved defensive focus — a combination that’s paying dividends as the season moves forward.
