FRISCO, Texas — The Cowboys still have a pulse, but the margin is razor-thin.
Dallas (6-7-1) enters Sunday’s Week 16 matchup against the Chargers (10-4) with postseason odds barely alive. A loss likely ends the chase, and even a win may not be enough. Still, the Cowboys believe their offense can keep hope alive — if it can handle one of the NFL’s most disruptive defenses.
Dak Prescott is in the midst of a career season, entering the weekend with 3,931 passing yards as Dallas ranks fourth in scoring (29.1 PPG). His connection with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens has powered an offense that’s produced 400+ yards in four straight games.
The challenge is steep. The Chargers have 40 sacks (sixth-most), led by Tuli Tuipulotu’s 12, and a ball-hawking secondary paced by Derwin James. Los Angeles has 17 interceptions, third-most in the league, during a 6-of-7 surge.
Milestones loom. Prescott needs 69 yards to tie Tony Romo with four 4,000-yard seasons, while Lamb needs 24 yards to reach 1,000 and make franchise history. Pickens’ 1,212 yards rank third in the NFL and are the most ever by a Cowboy in his first season with the team.
The path to January is narrow — but for Dallas, it still runs through Sunday.
