FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU leaned on its frontcourt and its defensive backbone Sunday, grinding out a 65–55 win over North Texas in a designated road game at Dickies Arena.
The Horned Frogs controlled the glass from the opening tip, overwhelming the Mean Green 38–25 on the boards. The dominance continued a long-running trend: TCU moved to 5–0 this season — and an impressive 145–44 under Jamie Dixon — when winning the rebound battle.
Despite committing a season-high 17 turnovers, the Frogs offset the miscues by shooting 44.4% from the field and holding UNT to 42.6%. Under Dixon, TCU is now 116–3 when it both outrebounds and outshoots its opponent.
The night belonged to the bigs. David Punch delivered the best performance of his career, posting his first double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while adding two blocks. He’s logged at least one block in all nine games this season, the longest streak by a Frog since Kevin Samuel in 2020–21.
Xavier Edmonds carried the scoring load, dropping a season-high 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and knocking down his lone three-pointer — his second straight game with a make from deep. Tanner Toolson chipped in 10 points, his third double-figure outing of the year.
Floor general Brock Harding continued his steady play, handing out nine assists for his eighth game leading TCU in that category.
The Frogs improved to 44–31 all-time against North Texas and 5–2 inside Dickies Arena.
Turnovers aside, TCU’s size, efficiency and rebounding muscle were more than enough to close out its first official road contest of the season.
