Dallas Stars Outlast Utah in 4–3 Thriller

DALLAS — DALLAS — The Dallas Stars secured a 4-3 win over the Utah Mammoth in their 25th game of the season,
debuting their brand-new ‘99 jerseys.

Head Coach Glen Gulutzan shared his thoughts on the fresh look, “When I saw the new jerseys and the crowd’s excitement and everything going on, the holiday season, I thought, okay, that helped tremendously. In all seriousness, it does help tremendously. A couple of us are on the bench, we’re like, we love these jerseys. They’re awesome and people are excited.”

Utah opened the scoring in the first period with back-to-back goals from #92 Logan Cooley and #25 Kevin Rooney. Dallas got on the board thanks to a power-play goal from #24 Roope Hintz, sending the game into the first intermission at 2-1 Mammoth.

The Stars came out strong in the second. Captain #14 Jamie Benn tied the game 2-2 with an even-strength goal, and shortly after, #21 Jason Robertson gave Dallas its first lead of the night with a slick, flexible finish.

Utah’s #22 Jack McBain made it 3-3, but penalties to #28 Ian Cole and #82 Kevin Stenlund put Dallas on a 5-on-3. Wyatt Johnston capitalized with the power-play goal.

“The biggest thing for me is being ready for the puck. The guys we have out there are making plays and looking to find you around the net. We’ve done a great job creating chances on the power play. It was a great pass by Mikko to find me to score,” Johnston said.

With the win, Jake Oettinger is now tied with Ed Belfour for second in franchise history with 160 career wins.

The Stars improved to 10-2-2 this month, setting a franchise record for the most points (22) in November since relocating to Dallas. Their 10 wins also tie the most in any November in team history.

Dallas hosts the Ottawa Senators next, with puck drop set for 5:00 PM CT on Sunday, November 30th.
