TCU Overmatched in Provo, Falls 44–13 to BYU

PROVO — In front of a season-high 64,447 fans, TCU never settled in and fell 44–13 to No. 19 BYU on Saturday night.

The Cougars scored on the opening drive — the first time TCU has allowed opening-drive points since Week 1 — and the Frogs went scoreless in the first quarter for the fifth time in seven Big 12 games. BYU piled up 27 first-half points, the most in the series since 1996, while TCU’s defense failed to record a sack for the first time in 18 games.

TCU did extend its NCAA scoring streak to 417 straight games, the second-longest in history, but the loss continues a four-game skid against ranked opponents.

Player Highlights

  • Eric McAlister surpassed 100 receiving yards for the third straight game, bringing his season total to 941 — ninth-most in TCU history.
  • Jon Denman punched in a fourth-down touchdown, his second of the season.
  • Jeremy Payne led TCU in rushing for the second consecutive week.
  • Josh Hoover finished 10-of-23, marking the first sub-50% passing performance of his career.

TCU returns home seeking answers as the season winds down.
