FRISCO, TEXAS – The Dallas Cowboys are grieving the death of Marshawn Kneeland, a 24-year-old defensive end who died early Thursday in Texas from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit.

Kneeland, a 2024 draft pick in his second NFL season, had just celebrated his first career touchdown on special teams during Monday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals — a moment teammates called one of the season’s highlights.

The Cowboys and NFL released statements expressing deep sorrow and support for Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina, his family, and teammates. Tributes from around the league have remembered him as a hardworking, upbeat presence whose future in football was only beginning to unfold.
