MEXICO CITY — The Dallas Mavericks couldn’t close the deal south of the border, falling 122-110 to the Detroit Pistons after a fourth-quarter collapse on Saturday night.
Dallas led 93-87 entering the final period but was outscored 35-17 as Detroit took control behind Jalen Duren’s career-high 33 points. Rookie Cooper Flagg posted a season-best 16 points, while D’Angelo Russell came off the bench to score 31 and keep the Mavs in it through three quarters.
Playing without Anthony Davis, who’s nursing a left leg injury, Dallas struggled defensively in the paint and on the glass. The loss marked the Mavericks’ fourth appearance in Mexico City—more than any other NBA team.
