FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Stars are keeping one of their top defensemen in the fold long-term, signing Thomas Harley to an eight-year, $84.7 million contract extension that kicks in for the 2026-27 season.
Harley, 24, has emerged as a steady presence on the blue line and a key piece of Dallas’ core. He’s off to a strong start this year with eight points through 10 games, building off a breakout 2024-25 season where he set career highs with 50 points, 16 goals, and a +32 rating.
When Miro Heiskanen went down last season, Harley took charge, producing 27 points in 30 games and helping Dallas stay near the top of the standings. He followed that up with 14 points in 18 playoff games, including the series-clinching goal against Winnipeg.
A 2019 first-round pick, Harley has 111 points in 207 career games and continues to establish himself among the league’s best young defensemen. With him locked in, the Stars’ blue line looks set for the future.
