ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings have hired Jose Fernandez as their next head coach, bringing one of the most accomplished names in women’s basketball to North Texas.
Fernandez spent 25 seasons at South Florida, where he became the program’s all-time winningest coach with nearly 500 victories. He guided the Bulls to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, two AAC titles, and helped launch over 100 players into pro careers, including WNBA standouts Courtney Williams and Kitija Laksa.
Known for his player development and international reach, Fernandez also owns two gold medals as an assistant with USA Basketball’s U18 and U19 teams. The two-time AAC Coach of the Year and WBCA President will be formally introduced at a Nov. 6 press conference in Dallas.
With Fernandez leading the way, the Wings are betting on experience, culture, and a winning pedigree to push the franchise forward.
