DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks dropped to 1–1 after a 117–107 loss to the Washington Wizards. Despite forcing 11 steals and blocking five shots — their first game this season reaching both marks — Dallas couldn’t slow down Kyshawn George, who erupted for 34 points, 11 rebounds, and seven threes in a career performance.

Anthony Davis led Dallas with 27 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists, logging back-to-back 20-point double-doubles to open a season for the first time since 2021–22. Rookie Cooper Flagg impressed again with 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists, becoming just the second player under 19 to record at least 15-5-5 in a game, joining LeBron James.

P.J. Washington Jr. added 18 points and nine boards, marking his second straight 15-plus point outing to start the year.

The Mavericks will look to bounce back Sunday night when they host the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center.
