SPOKANE, WASHINGTON — Dallas Trinity FC wrapped up a tough five-game road stretch with a 2-0 loss to Spokane Zephyr FC on Sunday night at ONE Spokane Stadium.
The first half was tightly contested, with both sides creating chances but failing to capitalize. After halftime, Spokane broke through in the 60th minute, and a Dallas own goal seven minutes later put the game out of reach.
Despite the scoreline, Dallas outshot Spokane 11-4 and held a 6-1 advantage in shots on target. Assistant coach Nick Petrucelli said the difference came down to execution: “We had a couple opportunities to go up early and didn’t take advantage of them. You need a shark in the box, and I don’t know if we quite had that grit there at the end.”
Forward Sealey Strawn echoed the frustration but remained optimistic. “We dominated the first half,” she said. “It’s just about finishing those chances. It’s a long season — a couple mishaps, and we’ll be fine.”
With the loss, Dallas falls to 3-3-1 (10 points) and sits fourth in the Gainbridge Super League standings. Goalkeeper Rylee Foster said the team is eager to return home for the State Fair Clásico: “Playing in front of our fans again is going to be huge. We want to win that trophy and make it a yearly thing.”
Dallas Trinity FC hosts Club América Femenil on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Cotton Bowl Stadium, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. CDT.
