FORT WORTH — The Dallas Mavericks opened their preseason with a dominant 106-89 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Dickies Arena, setting the tone early in front of an energetic North Texas crowd.
P.J. Washington led the way with 14 points, looking sharp and in rhythm as he begins his second season in Dallas. The veteran forward made an impact on both ends of the floor, providing steady scoring and defensive presence in limited minutes.
Rookie forward Cooper Flagg made his highly anticipated preseason debut, finishing with 10 points. The young standout showcased his versatility with confident shooting and active play on both ends, giving fans a glimpse of his potential in the Mavericks’ system.
Dallas controlled the pace from the outset, using ball movement and defensive pressure to build a double-digit lead by halftime. Despite the Thunder resting several regulars, the Mavericks stayed locked in, executing cleanly on both sides of the court.
As preseason continues, the Mavericks will use these tune-ups to evaluate rotations and build chemistry before the regular season opener. If Monday’s night performance is any indication, Dallas is on track to field a deeper and more balanced roster in 2025.
