FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA — Dallas Trinity FC (3-1-0) suffered its first loss of the season, falling 4-1 to Fort Lauderdale United FC (2-0-2) on Saturday night in the second of five straight road matches.
Dallas conceded its first goal in nearly 265 minutes in the 16th minute, then gave up an own goal before halftime. Fort Lauderdale added a third in the 59th before Dallas captain Amber Wisner scored off a Chioma Ubogagu corner in the 73rd. Fort Lauderdale sealed the win with a fourth goal in the 81st.
“We were off tonight,” said head coach Chris Petrucelli. “Fort Lauderdale played well, and we have a lot to fix before next week.”
Wisner echoed that mindset: “We have to learn and grow. Luckily, we have a game next week to bounce back.”
Midfielder Caroline Swann made her pro debut in stoppage time. “It’s a dream come true to play for my hometown,” she said.
Despite the loss, DTFC remains atop the Gainbridge Super League. They’ll visit Tampa Bay Sun FC next Saturday (6:30 p.m. CDT, Peacock).
