ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Paige Bueckers didn’t just arrive in the WNBA — she dominated it.
On Friday, the Dallas Wings guard was named AP Rookie of the Year after a sensational first season that saw her average 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals across 36 games, while shooting nearly 48% from the field.
Bueckers made history at every turn. She scored a rookie-record 44 points against the Sparks on Aug. 20, the highest single-game total by any player since 2023, and became the only player in league history to post 40+ points on 80% shooting.
Her consistent excellence earned her a spot on the AP All-WNBA Second Team — just the third rookie ever to receive the honor. She also made the AP All-Rookie Team unanimously.
The No. 1 overall pick shattered Wings rookie records in nearly every category and became the only player in the WNBA to finish top 9 in scoring (5th), assists (9th), and steals (6th).
She’s the second player in franchise history to win Rookie of the Year, joining Allisha Gray (2017). But based on her debut season, Bueckers might just be getting started.
