PHILADELPHIA — The Cowboys didn’t open the season with a win, but their offense showed real potential in a 24-20 road loss to the Eagles.
In Brian Schottenheimer’s head coaching debut, the offense moved with rhythm and balance. Dallas stayed aggressive and spread the ball effectively, giving early signs that this unit can be one of the more dynamic in the NFC.
Dak Prescott went 21-of-34 for 188 yards and a touchdown, running the offense efficiently. Running back Javonte Williams added a physical element to the ground game, finishing with 54 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
CeeDee Lamb led the receiving corps with 7 catches for 110 yards, showing explosiveness but dropping two crucial passes in the fourth quarter. George Pickens added a vertical threat on the outside, helping open space underneath.
The offensive line looked solid, giving Prescott time to operate and creating lanes for Williams in the run game. Although there were some mistakes, with corrections, the offense looks promising moving forward.
Dallas went 1-for-3 in the red zone and failed to finish drives late, but the structure, tempo, and execution of the offense showed a strong foundation heading into Week 2.
