FRISCO, TEXAS — When the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles take the field Thursday night, it won’t just be another chapter in their fierce NFC East rivalry — it’ll be history. The matchup marks the 32nd time these two powerhouses have met in primetime, setting the record for the most primetime games between any two teams in NFL history.
The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles enter with a target on their back, while the Cowboys are looking to make a statement under the national spotlight.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is no stranger to division dominance. Since his 2016 debut, he’s gone 33-8 against NFC East opponents, the second-most division wins by any quarterback in that span — trailing only Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes (35). Prescott’s success in rivalry games has helped shape Dallas’ identity over the last decade.
On the outside, CeeDee Lamb continues to post eye-popping numbers. Since 2022, he and Steelers receiver George Pickens have combined for 7,143 receiving yards — the second-most by any wide receiver tandem in the league, behind only Miami’s Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
This week’s showdown also marks a new beginning for Dallas. Offensive coordinator-turned-head coach Brian Schottenheimer is set to make his head coaching debut for the Cowboys. A win would make him the first Dallas head coach to win his debut since Wade Phillips in 2007, and only the fourth in franchise history to pull it off — joining Phillips, Barry Switzer, and Chan Gailey.
With history on the line and the lights shining brighter than ever, Thursday night has all the makings of a classic in this storied rivalry.
