Pick-Six Not Enough as Cowboys Collapse in 31-13 Preseason Loss to Ravens

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Another preseason game, another loss for the Dallas Cowboys—a final score of 31-13 to the Baltimore Ravens.

The first snap of this game was to former Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback, Cooper Rush, now wearing purple this season after signing a deal with the Ravens one week into this past free agency.

But Baltimore’s first drive ended with Rush getting hit by Dallas’ defensive end James Houston.

The Cowboys finished the next drive with QB Joe Milton getting sacked by Ravens cornerback Keyon Martin in the end zone—a safety, making the score 2-0, in favor of Baltimore.

Kicker Tyler Loop’s field goal soon after added to the Ravens score with just under four minutes to go in the first quarter.

Dallas’ first lead of the preseason came with CB Andrew Booth’s 40-yard pick six and K Brandon Aubrey point after touchdown, giving Dallas a 7-5 lead with a minute and a half to go before the second quarter.

Baltimore had possession for nearly 13 minutes of the first half and outgained the Cowboys—111 yards to Dallas’ -5. Only 2 first downs for the Cowboys, who also did not convert on any of their four third downs.

In the second quarter, Dallas got a stop on 3rd & goal thanks to defensive end Tyrus Wheat. But then, Baltimore converted on the fourth down—on 4th and 1, Rush found wide receiver Keith Kirkwood. Loop’s PAT made it 12-7, Ravens.

Another seven plays for Baltimore, and another Ravens field goal came shortly after; Loop making it from 51 yards out.

After the two minute warning, Dallas CB Kemon Hall with the interception. The very next play, Milton threw one. And Loop made another FG, Ravens leading 18-6 going into the half.
The second half would see QB Will Greir come in for the Cowboys with nine minutes to go. Milton finished the game going 9 for 18, for 122 yards, also getting a sack and throwing an interception. Will Grieg went 1 for 5 for 33 yards.
