Wings Rally Late, But Fall 97-96 to Sparks

Arlington, TXThe Dallas Wings nearly erased a double-digit deficit in the final minutes, but came up just short in a 97-96 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks at College Park Center.

Paige Bueckers led the charge with 29 points, five assists, and four rebounds, becoming the fastest rookie in Wings history to reach 500 points while also breaking the franchise rookie assist record. JJ Quinerly added 11 points and a career-high nine assists, including a clutch three to cut the lead to one with 15 seconds left.

Despite outscoring L.A.’s bench 39-7, Dallas couldn’t complete the comeback. Kelsey Plum paced the Sparks with 28 points, while Dearica Hamby and Julie Allemand both recorded double-doubles.

Dallas drops to 9-25 and heads to Las Vegas for a nationally televised matchup Sunday against the Aces.
