ARLINGTON — The Rangers let another close one slip away Tuesday, falling 3-2 to the Diamondbacks after Ketel Marte’s go-ahead homer in the ninth. Texas has now dropped nine of its last 12 one-run games and sits 5-13 in contests tied after the eighth.
Jack Leiter was sharp, allowing one run over five innings before the bullpen faltered. Marcus Semien’s sacrifice fly and Adolis García’s RBI groundout gave Texas an early lead, but the bats went cold after the third inning, managing just two hits the rest of the way.
Cole Winn struck out the side in the sixth to keep the game in hand, but Marte’s 445-foot shot off Robert Garcia sealed it for Arizona. The series wraps Wednesday with the Rangers looking to avoid another late collapse.
